Event-Triggered Campaign - Content Tab

The Content tab is where you define the content properties for your campaign. You define the email subject, the from address, and the type of message content. After you define and save the initial properties, you have to set up links to content, links to attachments, and more.

Create New Content

Follow these directions to define new content.

  1. From the Define Campaign Content screen, click Commands > New Content. The Edit Content Properties screen appears.

  2. In the Name field, type a unique name for the content.

  3. In the Subject field, type the content that appears in the email subject line.

  4. From the Insert Merge Tag drop-down list, select a merge tag if needed. This field is optional.

Note: Merge tags are used when you have content in a database that is inserted when the merge tag is present. For example, if you want to use a customer's first name in the subject line, it is impractical to create content for each customer so you insert a First Name merge tag.

  5. From the Sender Name drop-down list, select the name that will appear in the email from field.

  6. Click the Include List-Unsubscribe Header checkbox if you want to include the unsubscribe header. This option is recommended.

  7. In the Message Content section, select the appropriate content format. Options include the following:

    • Static Content - HTML page that is the same every time it is opened. May be personalized with Merge Tags.

    • Static Scripted Content - HTML page with static content but with the ability to add scripting using the Apache Velocity Script Engine. May be personalized with Merge Tags.

    • Dynamic Content - Content is served by an application server and is unique for every request. Each time Connect composes a message, it passes parameters to the application server causing the application server to build a unique page for that request. In addition to specifying the content URL, you must also specify parameters to pass to the application server. See Define Dynamic Content Parameters for more information.

    • XSL Template - This content type is only used in Event-Triggered campaigns. XML is passed to Connect through the event listener, Connect transforms the XML using the XSL template and the output is an HTML page emailed to the customer. XSL templates are very versatile and allow for complex coding and formatting. See Define XSL Template Parameters for more information.

  8. From the Language drop-down list, select a new language or keep the default.

  9. Click the Archive Message checkbox, to archive the personalized message content sent to each customer. See How Message Archiving Works for more information.

  10. Click the Send using secure channel (Force TLS) checkbox. This is optional. When checked, Connect will attempt to send the message on a secure email channel. If it cannot establish a secure email channel, it will not send the message.

  11. From the Send Mode Override drop-down list, select an override. This is optional.

  12. Click Save to save the content properties. The URLs screen appears along with links to two more content options.
