Referral Marketing

Referral marketing allows you to leverage your best customers to spread the word by forwarding your marketing messages to their friends. Connect tracks forwarded messages and, as a result, Connect knows when the forwarded message results in conversions. It is not necessary to ask your customers for their friend's email addresses. In Connect, referral marketing is an organic process that puts your customers and their friends leveraging marketing messaging, while Connect tracks their choices and interests. As a result, you are able to target customers who forward your messages and report on those forwarded messages that result in referrals.
The process for referral marketing is as follows:

  1. The campaign is launched in Connect, sending messages to targeted customers.

  2. The customer opens the email and forwards it to a friend.

  3. The friend receives the forwarded email from the customer and clicks on the offer of interest which signals Connect.

  4. Connect sets the cookie for the offer.

  5. Connect redirects the customer's friend to the merchant website.

  6. The customer's friend completes the transaction on the merchant's website.

  7. The customer's friend receives the HTML confirmation page for the transaction.

  8. Once the transaction is completed and the conversion is complete, the original messaged customer receives credit for the forwarded transaction.
